Smith & Wesson Third Model Target

Recently acquired a Third Model Target (32-44) Nickel finish appraised by three competent and knowledgable people at 75-80% original finish. The "Blue Book" suggests its value at $1700-$1900, so these pistols really command that kind of money?

  YOU BET that and more if in good mechanical condition I have one in 44 Russian and one in 38-44 used to have nickel serial I think 815 these guns were used by the Bennett Brothers and Ira Paine to hold the BULLS-EYE records for a number of years at the turn of the last century. DO NOT load with hot loads and look to see if you have any gas cutting on the top strap at the cylinder gap . also be aware they are prone to nickel embrittlement.
