M1 Carbine Made in Germany
I have a M1 30cal Carbine given to me back in the 60's. It's in Mint condition. Some parts have been chromed. On the side of the receiver is ERMAS MFG CO 30 CAL M1
I found one reference to this online:

Eventually they made complete carbines, fully interchangeable with the US version. One of these would be a real treasure for a serious collector.
Are these really a treasure? If so, what kind of value would these carry?

At least a kings ransom for sure! I've never seen one in even some large collections. 0 -
Although Erma-Werke made many .22 M1 carbines for import to the US, I have never seen one in .30 carbine. It certainly is rare, but that may or may not mean that someone is willing to pay big bucks for it. I don't know if it's been pimped out by the factory or Bubba.
There's really no way no know the real value, other than to sell it.

Hard information on Erma .30 cal carbine is tough to come by and actual examples are rare and seldom seen. The entire ERMA production of .30 carbines was supposed to have gone to German military and since none were known to have been sold commercially finding an example in private hands is mysterious. I can tell from looking at the photo that this was probably some sort of presentation piece and the hooded front sight is not at all like the standard carbine sights found on military rifles (US and German production). It is hard to price something like this because there are few if any others around. One thing I will say is that the vast majority of serious carbine collector interest (read that as big money) is in original USGI carbines so your market is going to be made up of a different type of buyer. Additional photos would be of interest, especially of the rifle's markings (if any). 0 -

The only article I could find said that this company rebuilt the M1's from leftover parts for the US. Serial No. is 40017. Here are some additional pics.0 -
No one has ever documented an M1 made entirely by ERMA, at least i've never heard of one.
between 1945 and 1949 the american occupied side ( west germany) was supplied with over 18,000 mi carbines , as well as various U.S. military handguns.
theses were mostly for use by the police and military.
around that time, and up to 1952, the german gov't gave ERMA-Werke the contract to maintain the guns.
they replaced parts as needed. the parts were manufactured by ERMA and the guns that were "re-built" received german inspection (proof ) marks likr these;
later on, ERMA produced a 22 cal version M1 for use in training and eventually sold them to the public.
I think it was in the 1960-1998 timeframe, but I could be off a few years either way.
While ERMA had the capability of produceing a complete 30 cal M1 Carbine, no records exist that show they actually did.
That's all I know about it.

Most of the German carbine rifles given to them to use by the US Government were stamped on the receiver, if not the receiver the trigger group numbered and the stock stamped in the sling well. If the statement that they were all used by the German government then most all of them were stamped or your's never made it to the government. I have seen a few carbines that had the manufacture, serial number ground off the rear lug and the US .30 ground of the front of the receiver.
