OAL of shotgun

I understand that the minimum barrel length for shotguns is 18" but was wondering about a shotgun with folding stock and if there is an Overall Length that needs to be maintained to remain legal?

  Correct it has to be 18" for barrel length unless building and NFA shotgun, then it can be any length.
  
  It is also true that it is 26" OAL, unless building and NFA shotgun. The ATF measures from the longest length. This means to measure do it with the stock open.
  
  I believe there are a couple of states that measure from the smallest size, ie with the stock folded.
