Problem with my Pietta 45 LC
Whenever I go out and shoot My pietta Great Western 2 sometimes it "locks" up and wont turn the cylinder to the next bullet so i have to force it or take out the cylinder. The gun was bought only 3 weeks ago. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it? thanks

I had this problem with my Colt whenever a load was a little warm. The cylinder would setback and lock. I would have to manually free the cylinder. I now only shoot reduced loads in it. 0 -
Assuming this is a SAA Colt repro, to load the piece you put it to half-cock which allows the cylinder to turn free to the right. You don't give much info about"locks" up. When it does lock up after a few shots, you should be able to do the same, having to 'help' it by turning the cylinder by hand as you pull back the hammer.
Sometimes the gap between cylinder and where each chamber meets the barrel is too close, it will turn ok when clean and after a few shots, heat expansion, lubricant blown away and powder residue can collect to cause it to bind. Check for clearance there.
It should be close but not touch. You should be able to see light thru the gap. When clean, if you can measure it, the gap should be about .003" or more. Try it With each chamber. If the gap is not pretty much the same with each chamber it is probably a manufacturing problem.
If it is just a case of not enough gap clearance, the fix is to take a bit of material off the entrance to the barrel to give the clearance . If you are not able to file with accuracy of a couple thousandths of an inch it needs a gunsmith.0
