Weatherby Mark V Questions

I finally got this Weatherby Mark V out of lay-away today. It is in 240 WM caliber, made in W. Germany, and has a 26 inch barrel. The serial number is P47422. The scope is a Weatherby 2 3/4-10. I would like to know about what year it was made and any information on this model, and an approximate value. Any idea who made the scope? It is also marked as made in West Germany. The floorplate is marked Weatherby Custom. The condition is about 98%. I paid $1295 for the outfit with a box of ammo. Thanks for looking and any replies.

    My guess, and it is a guess with quite a bit of Weatherby knowledge, it was made in the early 70's. It looks to be very nice, and in a fairly rare caliber. I think you did good for price. I wouldn't mind having one like that in my collection, but they are hard to find.

    I would venture that it was made in 1970. If you remove the stock under side of barrel will have a 2 digot stamp for the year made..Pat[:D]
    Go to the Weatherby collectors web site and they have aa box on the forum page that you can look up Weatherby serial numbers and dates.

    As far as the custom goes, when I bought mine and requested it be a custom, they did a great job on the trigger, replaced the magazine floorplate, jeweled the bolt, and I believe they also regraved the bolt handle knob.
