Remington 715 Sporter 30-06

I just received this rifle, and the bolt seems to be undersized for the chamber. Unless it is drawn back slowly, and in line with the barrel, it sticks. any upward or downward pressure will cause the sticking. I had it looked at by a gunshop, and they agree there is a problem. Is this typical of the 715? I wanted a bolt action 30-06 with a detachable magazine. Would anyone recommend a different rifle?

    The Model 715 was a replacement for the Model 710 which was an abysmal failure followed by another abysmal failure. The Model 715 was released in 2008 and discontinued in 2008. These were then followed by the Model 770 which had a couple of improvements but the rifle is still junk. Remington stepped in it big time and is still trying to scrape it off their boots.

    There is no fix for the problem except to get rid of the rifle and buy a good rifle.

    I like the Tikkas also, but plan on replacing the stock since the factory one is less than ideal and can stand to be improved by an aftermarket stock, preferably not something equally cheap.

    Good to know that the rifle is no good.

    For better or worse I have a Savage Axis II XP in .30-06 coming to my FFL.

    I will cash in a $50 rebate from Savage and it will cost me $375.00 when it is all said and done.

    Savage Axis Rifle + Accutrigger + Weaver 3-9x40 = $375.00 out the door
