judge jam ! help !

fired my new judge today,once, loaded with winchester 410.cylinder would not rotate,and i can't open it,still 4 shells loaded.

any suggestions?

thanks,really bummed out,thougt this would be a fun day out.

    Possible that you have a longer shell in there than you should have- when a shotshell fires, it unfolds. Possibly unfolded right into the forcing cone. Perhaps a near-bore diameter wooden dowel, run down bore, tap to see if you can push plastic lip of shotshell back, or would look for the thinnest blade I could find, and see if can get between cylinder and forcing cone, cut shell (but that is tough plastic)

    Have heard several reports of this on the judge, especially 3 inch shells in the shorty chamber.

    I had a revolver that I fired high powered round in and it locked the cylinder up, I got it to open by trying to rotate the cylinder bach and forth, pulling the hammer back, pushing the cylinder release, pushing on the cylinder as if opening it, I used this process a number of time before the cylinder released. The other side of the question is that you have blown the revolver up and need to take it to a gunsmith.

    i am using 2 1/2 shells.

    lvpatt- if you can see light thru the forcing cone area, then lockup may be at the cartridge head area. Try to slip a very thin screw driver in at the recoil shield area, and GENTLY pry under the case rim to move it back and forward a smidge. Sometimes a primer may back out and jam things up. If you CAN'T shine a light thru the cylinder gap, the jam is up there.

    If you determine the problem is at the rear of the cylinder, just try tapping the cylinder open with a nylon hammer or some protective cover. Either the primer is protuding into the firing pin hole, or the cartridge head is pressure-forced against the frame. Either condition is a warranty item.

    take a 3/8 inch rod and push down the barrel then tap slightly this will give you some clearance to to rotate the cylinder when you remove the rod.

    A friend's Judge does the same thing with 410 shells. We thing that a lot of unburnt powder or shell set back locks the cylinder up.
    In my opinion the Judge is JUNK!!!!
    There are some other posts about the same problem.
