Remington 700

I have a Remington 700 sps tactical chambered in .308. Does anyone make a detachable magazind system for ths and any comments on the quality. Thanks

    I was at a gun shop today and was looking at a remington 700. It was a BDL in 270. It was totally parkerized and appeared to have a mcmillan (or similiar) stock with a cheek piece. Was this a special model or is it just customized aftermarket. What would you think is a good price for this given it is in decent condition.(handling marks but no rust or damage)I have not seen a gun like this before.


    Any info would be great

    Yes there are several companys that make them and they range alot in price. I cant remember off hand what there were but i asked on the general forum awhile back and got the answers. Here is the link to the same question i asked awhile back.

    These are the ones I can remember off the top of my head:

    Kwik Klip (least expensive)

    Badger Ordnance

    CDI Precision

    Seekins Precision

    Surgeon Actions

    Accuracy International

    HS Precision

    Only a couple are considered to be 'drop in'. The others either require the bottom metal to be fitted to the stock or the system fitted to both the action and the stock.

    ADDED:

    Your choices are going to be narrowed down by your sensitivity to cost vs function. If you want cheap then the Kwik Klip is where you should start looking. Last I saw, they were available through Cabela's.

    As much as I have used and enjoyed Remington rifles in all of their flavors, the one aspect I never appreciated was their design for the DBM. It's noisy and prone to being lost on the woods or any other places you take that rifle to hunt. It probably doesn't mean anything in your situation but once you've made the cuts in the stock to accommodate the magazine release latches, that stock is ruined for any other use. You're stuck with those two notches on the sides of the stock. Some folks like to switch their stocks around and this would not work with other standard M700s without the DBM.

    You'll have to check the websites for prices on the others. I know that CDI and Seekins run specials from time to time so it's worth viewing their websites. Be prepared for the prices though since this is an extremely popular modification for many competition and tactical shooters.

    Have you thought about the factory Remington parts?Minor fitting of the stock to clearance the mag release tabs on the mags. Just a thought.

    I used the factory DM for my PSS-LTR. I got the parts from a guy on NAZebay. His seller name is WOOFFERSELLS.
