Gun Value Questions

I have been moving around three guns that were handed down to me for years now and it is getting old. Times are tough. I may need the money here in the future.
- M53 Carbine
S.N.-3325821 with bayonet and N.R.A Card evaluating at Good Condition.

- Winchester Model 37/ 410- 3in./ Steelbilt
No Serial Number.

-Winchester Model 94/ 32sp.
S.N.-1522718 which is original but has seen better days. Good shooting gun. I would say Good Condition overall.

    It would be best for valuation purposes if you could post quality photos of the guns. Here is a link to a "sticky" giving instructions on posting photos to the forum.

    Your reference to the "M53 Carbine with bayonet" has me puzzled? Could you please give us more information on it.

    The M53 is a Chinese copy of the Russian M44 Carbine. Usen by the North Koreans and Chinese in the Korean War.

    Gun Features: 5-round integral box magazine, 20in barrel, Caliber 7.62X54R, Folding Bayonet.

    All info provided on Authenticity card.

    Although the Chinese M 53 isn't as common as the Russian and Eastern European made Model 1944's. Unless it's in excellent, factory original, all matching condition? Would it have any significant value.

    Model 1944 Carbines have been imported and sold inexpensively, by the container load, from Eastern Europe over the last 10 years. The market is flooded with them, selling in the $50-$150 range.

    I have had the M53 for about 20 years. My granfather gave it to me and I assume it had been refurbed by him before he gave it to me, he was doing such work at the time.
    The gun itself has the year 1955 stamped on it. Other than the Serial number all other stamps are Chinese.
    Hardly worth selling though I guess. Always get a good reaction when seen on the wall anyway. People love guns with Bayonets.

    A gun refurbished by a grandfather will also have a lowered value. His intentions were the very best, but collectors prize original conditon and avoid refurbished or modified.

    I would suggest posting about your Chinese Carbine on the other forums. It's a website dedicated to Milsurp collecting. You will certainly get up to date value info. And may well find interested buyers.
    Check the auctions here for same make/model guns in similar conditions to see what they are going for.
    I recall the M-37 in .410 as being fairly sought after.
    EDit: What gives w/the mod edit?
    Are we not allowed to refer to other forums where posters might get better info? Since when?
