winchester model 75
hello all did any model 75's come from the factory tapped for scope bases? i have 1 with 7 1/4 ctc base holes. but has the target aperture sights.just curious seems too bee a long span between bases. thanks kevin

Yes.
The holes are for bases for outside adjustment target scopes like Unertl or Lyman Targetspot. A 7.2 inch spacing gives 1/4 minute adjustments with Unertl mounts.
It is not meant for short internal adjustment hunting scopes.0 -
I seem to recall that the later model 75 came with barrels that were drilled and tapped for scope sights, but I could be wrong. 0 -
Winchester made a scope secificaly for the 75. The Winchester 8X. This was an externaly adjusted scope with the adjustments in the mounts. The mounting bases were specific to the scope and the rifle. The only markings on the scope were 8X. You could use other scopes like the Lyman 438 or the Winchester 5A with the appropriate bases. And yes, as far as I know they were all drilled and tapped. 0 -

Sumlord is correct. I think that the change that had me confused was when Winchester produced the model 75 with the grooved receiver, in addition to the barrel being drilled and tapped for scope sights. 0
