marlin model 60 medallion

i have a marlin model 60 rifle and set in the side of the stock is a medallion saysing safety , ethics, sportsmanship. anyone have any idea where it came from.

  From Marlin, it is nothing that special. I have a model 60 the same way. I think I bought mine new in the late 80s or 1990. They only did it for a few years from what I understand.
