1860 Colt Army repro, Uberti

Always liked the 1860 Army in .44

I have a .36 BP revolver by Pietta right now. But I see that Uberti has the 'early type' fluted cylinder 1860 Army model which looks better to me than the belted cylinder.

With today's metallurgy...what's the downside to a fluted or semi-fluted cylinder??

  There still made for black powder pressures, or modern substitutes that are also low pressure. Fluting wouldn't make any difference. Long as your not loading it with bullseye, not a problem.

  You wont have engraving on the cylinder.
  You wont blow it up any easier than an unfluted cylinder.

  have an 1860 clone with fluted cylinder & ivory style grips...pietta i think...its one of the best looking pistols i have....unusual to find fluted cylinder
