Gun refurbish
Got a well worn 92FS. Any idea on making it look new? Paint, powder coat or polish?

I'm not a fan of the Beretta at all but here is the description of the finishes as supplied by the factory:
Frame: light alloy
Slide: steel slide
Matte finish:
- steel components phosphatized and "Bruniton" coated
- light alloy components: sand blasted and anodized
- sand blasted plastic grips; on request, walnut grips
It's been suggested that the 'Bruniton' finish is some form of 'epoxy'-type coating with good wear characteristics.
Your desire will guide your selection of finishes. You might be able to return it to the factory for their standard of re-finishing or there might be a gunsmith or small company that knows the formulation for the Bruniton finish who can apply it in the proper form. There are other possibilities which you have already named but where you have to take into account the thickness of the applied finish.
It might be worth an e-mail or phone call to the factory to get their information then do a search for a gunsmith or company that has experience applying this finish as well as anodizing. Lots of companies powder coat and there are a bunch of folks doing DuraCoat and CeraCoat also. Your decision is whether or not to return it to the original finish or have become something else like camo colors or camo patterns.
