I was watching this show a couple of years ago and they built a "radio" using a headphone, some copper wire, a bayonet and some other stuff. It picked up AM stations I think. What was the "slang" term for these radios that GI's made in WWII. I want to try to build one for fun but cant find some kind of directions. Any help would be great. I'm sure perryshooter or capt. will know something

  The only thing I had to do with a batteryless Radio is with the venerable old CRYSTAL Set that uses the GERMANIUM Crystal and Cats Whisker...You can still buy the Radio in Kit Form from Johnson and Johnson the Project Catalog People....Also the Kits can still be had from Radio Shack...I bought one for My Grandson back about a Year ago...
  Also...If You live in the Los Angeles area...every last Saturday of the Month the Ham Radio Club has what is called TRW Ham Swapmeet over by the LAX <Los Angeles Air Port> on Aviation Blvd...Between Rosecrans and El Segundo, Blvd...I've seen them there selling for under $10.00...Best.....
