savage 99 1923 vs 1951
I have 2 savage 99's
My friend wants to buy one
One is made in 1923 in ithica one in 1951 in chipiwa falls.
The 1923 has a thicker patina and the forstock is chipped
We are just going to look for one on gunbroker that looks to be in the same condition and arm wrasstle very little over the price as we both want to be fair.
Is there any GREAT difference in value?

Is there a great difference in condition? What caliber(s), that can make a difference in value. Are both all original with no changes, re-blues, re-finishes, after market butt pads, gunsmith bore and tap for scope etc? 0 -

Keep them both and have your buddy buy his on GB then as friends you'll have 3 great rifles to shoot! that is if you like him enough to let him shoot yours!!!!!! 0 -
The Utica guns seem the best made as compared to the two newer Manufacturing locations. One of my 99's made in 1947 Utica appears to be better finished than my 1949 Chicopee Falls, MA Rifle. I have a 99 made in 1963 at Westfield, MA that I think is not as nice as the Chicopee Rifle...Just my thoughts on my specific guns...it would be interesting to have others chime-in as to the quality differences between the three manufacturing locations that Savage has had on 99's. 0
