870 'express' stamping

I have bought 2 brand new 870's in the last 9 months. The factory box and all paperwork calls them a 870 express,however the receivers are not stamped 'express' but just remington 870. The serial number on the box match the number on the gun so no switch aroo was made at the gun shop. Has Remington quit stamping the new models with express ? I did notice also, the finish on the new ones is more textured and more grey in color, and the older one that are stamped express are a deeper blue/black color and not as rough of a texture. Anyone know whats up ? Thank you, Joe

    Sounds to me like the bean counters at Big Green are at it again. They are making the Express now with no "Express" stamped on it as it saves an operation during manufacturing, and eliminates a job.

    It also makes the Express look like the SPS, so the prices will creep higher.
