Remington 725...Take a Look!
Hello fellow experts....we have an auction #127556389 currently on GB that has a Remington Model 725 in .222 Rem. This gun has a different stock with a black-tip on the forearm. It looks like it was designed for the gun and appears original...but a stock like this on a Model 725 I have not seen before! Could this be a DELUXE version or a custom gun from the Remington Custom Shop?? Appreciate your replies...if original I believe I will seriously bid. MANY THANKS!!!

WELL...FIRST OFF THERE IS NO SUTCH THING AS A .222 WINCHESTER (LISTED AS SUTCH TWICE[;)]). AT FIRST GLANCE IT LOOKS LIKE A CUSTOM STOCK, BUT THE GRIP CAP IS CORRECT FOR THE TIME PERIOD. IT IS A CUSTOM RIFLE BUT ONLY REM. CAN TELL IF THEY DID IT. 0 -
I cannot find a picture of a higher grade 725, my old Gun Digests show only the ADL and mention the Peerless and Premier grades without illustration. The ADL does not have a foreend tip or that checkering pattern. Other Remingtons before and after have square not slanted foreend tip joints. Be careful. 0 -
Hawk-Carse...thanks for your input...you are correct about the slanted spacer. It's interesting...I have examined closely the stock and it appears it has all the same lines and dimentions of the ADL stock. The checkering pattern on the grip is true Remington, especially on their C's. I am inclined to think it's one of the Deluxe grades you mentioned...I would love additional input from the Remington Gurus...THANKS!!! 0 -
I just believe I have found the answer. According to my research the .222 was only made in 1959 EXCEPT for the Deluxe Grades which were ALL made in 1961 only. This was manufactured in 1961 according to the production code...based on this info I am thinking it's either a Peerless or Premier Grade Model 725..DA DAH!!!! 0 -

It sure is a sweetheart of a rifle. If money permitted I would be bidding on it. Unfortunately, right now it doesn't.
I just picked up a 721 heavy barrel in 30-06. I talked the shop owner down $100 because I thought the lands were shot. At least that's how it looked in the shop. When I got home and cleaned it, the bore was mirror. Lands were eroded but only back about 1/4". I'm going to go shoot it this morning and see what kind of accuracy it has. Oh yeah, it has a really nice set of lyman/Redfield peep sights. Complete with front and rear aperture changes.0 -

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while!!! One of my favorite little guns is a 722 made in 1956...it was originally a .244...now has a .243 barrel and re-chambered as a .240 Page Super-Pooper! It will shoot 6mm Rem's and fire-form them to the 240PSP. It's quite the shooter! Oh well, we will see what happens...I love this stuff...what else can I do...I will soon be 67!

Michibay,this isn't a deluxe 725,it looks like a stock that has been up graded,I have Rem. 725's in a .222 and a .280 and the stocks are original,no fore tip the stocks are the same as the rest of the stocks,I some what collect 725's and the 722'sand if your interested in seeing what look like let me know then you will see the difference,if your looking at collecting them make sure that they correct...I hope that this helps...Pete 0 -

PETER-60...Thanks for you interest. I believe the gun is a PEERLESS Grade! I know it does not look like a normal 725. However if you look at the lines, dimentions etc it is the same and sets perfectly.
Remington only made a few PEERLESS GRADES in 1961...otherwise the only 222's in the 725 were made in 1959. This gun was made in 1961!0
