I was not aware Sig Sauer made a P228 But was told they do. Is this a discontinued gun or a new one? What are the spesc?

  Predated the P229. No longer imported to the U.S., but still made in Germany.
  
  The 228 had a stamped steel slide (as opposed to the heavier forged slide of the 229.
  
  The US military issues the 228 as the M11 Pistol.

  The P228 is 9mm only. The P229 can be had in 9mm, 40S&W, or 357 Sig. The P228 and P229 9mm mags are the same mag.
