Savage m 99

I'm wanting to put a Savage M 99 .375 winchester barell "not the .375 Mag." on a M 99 savage,can I switch barell with a .308 M 99...thanks Pete

Depends not so much on the barrel, but the type of Model 99 you have. The original ones had internal rotary magazines. Since the 375 Winchester is a rimed cartridge you might have to do a lot of modification to the .308 M 99's innards, to get it to work with the .375. You would have a lot easier time if you had a .358 Winchester barrel.

Not saying it could be done but I agree with rufe Snow the 358 win would be alot eaiser might also look at the 338 federal

As near as I can tell, the 99 was never chambered in .338. It was in .358.

I have switched a lot of barrels over the years on 99's I have only one 99 now but 4 bbl's its a take down and cal's are 303 sav. 22 HP.30-30 with a 410 gage bbl also.all are rimmed cal. the head space is off the rim on 375 win. on the 308 it is rimless.tks hedge[:D]
