state to state transfer

If i win a gun on gunbroker and the gun is 3 1/2 hour from me BUT across state line "i'm in iowa gun in missouri" i have a permit to acquire is it legal for me to go get?

    Call a gunshop in the state where the gun is and ask them if they can sell you the same type of "GUN" with your outof state/bordering state DL
    Texas can sell to it's adjoining states (LONGGUNS) Hand guns are a whole other subject.

    It does not matter if it is a handgun or a long gun. Out of state transfers REQUIRE an FFL.

    In state FTF or FFL legal to transfer any kind of gun.
    Out of state you can only transfer long guns and only with an FFL. EDIT: WM I was saying the same thing you were but with bad wording. The gun has to be transfered though an FFL, not that you have to have an FFL.
    There is NO out of state legal transfer of handguns.

    These are the federal laws, some states are more restrictive.

    Nitro- NO. A handgun may only be acquired in YOUR state of residence. Even face-to-face, even from a dealer. Coming from out of state, must go to a FFL in YOUR state.

    "Out of state you can only transfer long guns and only with an FFL.".........sorry, this just ain't so. you can legaly buy a LONG GUN in any state (from a ffl) as long as it is legal for you to own in both states. a handgun must be tranfered in your oun state.

    The answer is:

    If it's a long gun you can go get it if the seller is an FFL or he brings an FFL in for the sale. Meaning you at least need an FFL in the state of purchase or state of receipt(he ships to your FFL).

    If it is a handgun then you must use an FFL in your home state.

    I just wanted to clarify the bold underlined line if I may. You cannot buy, and immediately possess, a handgun, in a state in which you are not a resident of. In order to buy a handgun from another state (yes it is legal) You must have it transferred to an FFL in your state of residence and take possession of it there according to your own state laws.

    Nwcid, I know you edited your post but I thought that line could still use some clarification.
