M 95
Is an M95 a good surplus gun to have if you do not reload? Ammo seems pricey. I know nagants are cheap but I really do not care for them.

I assume you're talking about the Steyr M-95,I've also considered buying one of those guns as well.As far as ammo,check out Old West Scrounger,they may have some.If nothing else I believe J&G sales has the ammo for 10 dollars a box if you buy the rifle from them.You might want to get some stripper clips for it as well,because if you don't you'll just have a single shot rifle.Good luck with your purchase. 0 -
With whats going on with the price of ammo and components, lately. The 91-30 and other M N rifles are the only way to go. If your just going to buy the 95 to hang it on the wall, thats OK. If you intend to do any shooting with it, reconsider. I've been told that the blast and recoil from the 95, is worse the M 38 & M 44, M N carbines. 0 -
They are a good deal, but you're not going to be able to shoot it for a reasonable cost unless you handload. Add to it that many have rather stiff actions. 5 years ago when ammo was $.25 a round it wasn't bad. Now that surplus is running $.50 to $1 per round, it's another matter; new production ammo is even more expensive.
Milsurp ammo has gone through the roof in the past few years. THe 7.62X54R for the Mosin is the only one out there that is still even somewhat reasonable. Followed by 8mm Mauser- which itself is drying up.0
