Whats my gun worth "Springfiled model 1899"
Well my dad has been collecting junk from everywhere. I was in the attic and found out that he had a couple old rifles just sitting around collecting dust.
The first one was a Lee enfield that wasn't worth much. The second though I am unable to find out how much it could be worth. I have been to a few websites and I have seen them go for $500 to $3000. I don't want to take it some where and have them tell me that it is junk and they will give me a couple hundred for it.
It is a Springfield Model 1899 carbine, serial number 280596. If anyone could help that would be great. It is in good condition for being over a hundred years old. A few little dings in the wood. everything still works, smooth action. I took it to a gunsmith and had him clean what he could without destroying the antique look. he said that he was impressed for how old the gun was and how good of a condition it was in.

We need quality close up photos, to help you with a accurate valuation.
If it's dated 1899, it would be what is known as a Krag. This was the standard military longgun, used by the U.S. between the early 1890's and the early 1900's.
Values vary for the various Krag rifles and carbines, depending on arsenal originality and cosmetic condition.0 -

Just upload them to a photo hosting site like www.photobucket.com and post the link here. I'd like to see pics of your carbine as well.
By the way, it was manufactured in 1900.0
