.22 ammo

I own a walther tph , what would be the best self defense ammo ?
Do they make a .22 in silver tip ? just wondering ..

    I bought a brick of federal 22 (550) today for 13.47 at Walmart and could have bought many more. Maybe the hoarders are getting their fill and things are getting back to normal.

    Not likely! You were just lucky. I went to one yesterday, they sold out all the Federal bulk packs in the morning. All they had left were Mini-Mags, which I was happy to get. The 3 previous different Wally Worlds I had gone to over a period of 1 month, had nada rimfire wise except shorts and 22 mags.

    Well, at some point the hoarders will have their stocks filled, butb based on what I've seen over the last week (in stores and at gunshow) I don't think we're anywhere near there yet.

    You were probably just lucky enough to get there shortly after they put out the ammo.

    I checked a slightly out of the way Wal-Mart this am, actually, and every common handgun round was sold out (ie no 9mm, .45, .38, .357, 40SW).

    There was a good bit of .22 LR ammo, but it was all expensive specialty ammo like Stingers and Mini-mags. No non-premium or bulk pack of any kind.

    On the other hand there were plenty of shotshells, including buckshot in 12 and .410 gauge, and the prices seemed reasonable ($23-24 per box of 100 for target loads).

    Also, there were boxes on the shelf of less popular rifle rounds including 7mm-08, 22-250, etc.

    i went to wally world in maryland and found six bricks that had come in this morning. I shoot alot of 22 so I bought all six for 12.97 a brick. The KID, and I mean kid, behind the counter said that 20 bricks came in that morning and this was all that was left. I asked if he had any 22 hornet ammo and he said he never heard of it and that they didn't carry it.Guess he should have looked harder because there was three boxes right behind him. Bought those to.32.50 for 50 rounds of remington 45 grain 22 hornet.Just right timing is all.

    I havent noticed .22 ammo being as hard to get, even at walmart here. It seems to be more a lot of the other rifle calibers and stuff. The one walmart here is pretty picked over but was able to pick up a box of .30-.30 win and .30-.06 last time I was there.

    just got back from north eastern Mississippi...hit walmarts in iuka and corinth..iuka i found 22lr and .357 cjhp..corinth had squat...lonnies in corinth was wiped out on 9mm but had blazer in .45 and .40 sw...picked up a few of the .40 only...the bow shop in counce Tenn had 9mm for 18.99 for 50 rd's of American ..not sure what they have left over by now all this was done friday last week....heard rumor the osama is not considering looking at the awb at this time..too many other issue's....ya..i bet..like trying to get reelected in 3.75 years...i pray his success is the same as ours has been finding ammo[:D]..ps this was my vacation and the ammo was only souveniers ..i dont hoard[;)]
