(i also have not had any problems out of any of the Taurus guns i have ever owned so IM not too worried about it being a Taurus unless there is a defect in this gun)
I can get one looks new with some kind of expensive looking flap holster for $400. (TITIAUMN)
recoil will not be an issue, i have 44s and shoot a 50AE

44 ultra light update.
We dont have many post left before it is locked.
I took my SW 629 my DE50 and tested them with the 44 ultra light.
i.e.: lets just say the 44 felt like it had 15 lb. of recoil
(i have no idea how much it has)
My 629 would feel like 15lbs
the ultra light felt like 20lbs
the 50AE felt like 30lbs
this is the best I can think of at the moment.
shot the gun with some 44spl first they felt a little less then 44mag, so i knew the mag would have some bite.
i was able to keep the rounds in the black at around 15-20 yards,
THE GUN IS NOT unmanageable. but it does have a sharp ring when fired. i had to change up my ear protection as the ones that just push in were not doing the job.
it is a hand full.
RANGMASTER did say the gun did not rise up when i fired it as much as he thought it would have,[:0] but i also was holding on just in case.
didnt want to end up on you tube[:D]
i have not shot a 500 or a 460 yet bit will be looking for one to shoot to see what there like.

200gr with unique 12gr
240gr H110 23.5
44spl 200gr unique @ 7.6
50AE 325gr H110 @ 28.3
over all i liked it[:p] so i bought it, [;)]
now i have to waite for it to be sent to florida [:(]so i can pick it up.
(bought it in alabama so it has to be sent FL)

Recoil might surprise you I have a friend that has a Smith 329Pd that is a beast to shoot I think the 500 is tame compared to it

please let us know how it shoots after wed. I go to alaska every year, and I am interested in a light weight easy to carry .44 mag. Interested also what weight bullet you shoot through it also. Factory or Relaoded. 0 -

Is this thing ported or not ported? Next week I'm picking up a 5 shot Taurus 41 Mag, 2.5" ported. I kind of expect the recoil to feel like a firecracker going off in my hand as it's slammed in a car door. [xx(]
Actually, my experience shooting a few lightweights is that the recoil is different from shooting heavier recoiling hand guns such as a 454, 500 or any number of the bigger calibers shot from Encores or Contenders. Very sharp and shocking to the hand as opposed to a big, healthy and strong push.0 -
I just checked with my wholesaler and those Tarus model 444 pistos have not been in stock since 2007. They have been on back order since then. Don't get your hope of ever finding one up. Most firearms manufacturers that have big product lines only mfg them as special production runs based on demand by wholesalers. 0 -
IIRC, 23.5 of H110 with a 240 is a pretty stiff load. Good to hear that it's not unmanageable, I have great hopes for the 415 I just bought. BTW, aftermarket grips are evidently a bit of a challenge to find,these guns take the same grip as the "Tracker" model. The rubber Hogues are the best I could find to replace the ribbed factory, I'd still like to het some real wood ones. Hogue says they don't make them for these models. 0
