.17 hmr guns

Im looking to buy a .17 hmr rifle. so i was just wondering what is some of the best guns of that caliber that are out there.

    depends on how much your are will to pay for it.

    Cooper or kimber are top shelf guns, both will probably cost you over a thousand dollars.

    a Savage or heavy barreled ruger M77 is cheaper.

    Have shot CZ 's ,Marlins and H&R .
    Like them all .

    wouldn't like to spend over a thousand. whats good for under eight hundred.and would like something with a barrel length of 24 inches or over.

    CZ, savage, or Ruger are best, in that order, from best to worst in my opinion.

    my friend just got a savage the other day and all i have to say is wow! after three shots down range we were left with a one hole groups, most accurate gun i have ever shot

    + one on CZ. 453 17 HMR Varmit barrel---Approx $ 500. Spend $300 to $400 on good glass. It will shoot lights out with the set trigger.

    A freind called from Wal-Mart in McCook Neb.The Savage was 189.oo he wanted to know what scope and ammo to buy.I told him "from personal experience "get a 3 x 9 scope and the Hornady V-Max ammo and don't look back

    The Anschutz with the 54 action would be a very top choice. This rifle is $1500 or more. Very top quality and accurate. Superb trigger. You can get this in meister grade wood, if you like.

    The Anschutz with the 64 action is also a very good choice. It is also very accurate and top quality, but lighter and less expensive than the 54 action. These run around $900. Superb trigger.

    The Coopers are superb. Accurate, excellent triggers, excellent quality. They will be over $1500 or so.

    The CZ 452 and 453 are probably among the better values available, at $450 to $650, with smooth, quality actions, forged receivers, hammer forged barrels, good buttpads, and good wood. I have a 452 (same as 453 but without the single set trigger), and spent a few bucks to have my gunsmith slick up the trigger, which had some creep out of the box. They have a good wing-type safety that I like.

    I cannot comment about the Rugers, Remington, Weatherby, or the Savages, because I have not tried them.

    Browning makes some nice T-bolt models in 17. I have not handled them, but they look great in the pictures. You can get both wood and synthetic, and sporter weight or heavier barrels.

    I have a Ruger that I custom rebarreled with a Green Mountain barrel. If I hadn't gone that route I'd have bought the Savage with the laminate stock, accu-trigger and varmint weight barrel. I'm not sorry about what I have, but I think the Savage may be a better package and is what I recomend to friends who ask. This from someone who really likes CZ and Cooper.....

    I have a CZ 453 Varmint with the Single set trigger...to buy that rifle from me would cost you well over $2000.00, if not 3000.00. That is just how much I like it. you are getting a lot more gun than either Savage, Ruger, or Marlin for the money. I have shot a Cooper, and they are in their own class, and the money prooves it. If I am not mistaken, the CZ can be had for around $500.00.
