Numrich Arms: Is it just me?

I've been a customer of Numrich Arms for over 20 years. And over the 20 yrs have to say that they have on many occasions been a Godsend and had the parts I needed.
But in recent years I have had SEVERAL occasions where they have sent me something that they evidently consider a "suitable substitute" instead of the correct part.
It wouldn't be so bad if they advised on their website that didn't have an original (or repro of), but could offer X as a sub.
But they don't. They say they have the part, then send something different.
Case in point: I ordered a repro Marlin Model 20 buttplate. Which should have been a curved STEEL buttplate. What I received was a flat plastic buttplate. NOT EVEN CLOSE to original configuration. The worst part is that I had at about the same time as made my order, located an original from another source. Which is now gone.
I gotts tell ya, I'm pretty freakin PO'D at this screw around they gave me. Especially since it's become a pretty regular occurance. I won't say that I won't use them anymore. But they have gone from 1st source on my list to last. All because I have come to have 0 condfidence that I will be sent the actual part I ordered.
Am I the only one they're doing this to?

    This is probably more of a Gen Disc. topic I'll wager, there is plenty of room for rants.

    I probably order less than you, but I did receive a forarm band for a pre-64 model 94 that I am pretty sure is not an original, not even refinished. Kinda looks like a made in China knock-off. I am glad I will not need to use it afterall, it is very poorly done.

    So, yeah, I am kinda there with you. I think you should let them know. Probably won't make any difference, but if enough folks complain, they had better listen.

    I would guess older parts are getting harder and harder for Numrich to stock since the don't offer much when they attempt to buy parts guns and that combined with more people rebuilding guns rather then breaking them down some older parts are going to dry up any how. however there's no excuse for a poor substitute when they should say its not in stock. based on my past experience no,its not just you

    I'll take a chance on this getting moved to General Discussion and note that I've been pretty disappointed by Numrich lately. The last was a trigger tension screw for a K-Frame S&W.
    I don't know what it might have fit, but it was dang sure smaller than the one it was to replace.

    I have noticed during the past several years that their supply of handgun parts is not what is used to be. I chock this up to UPS mandating that all handguns be shipped next day air (at huge money) and New York State declaring that all handgun be sent by an FFL dealer. This has to have cut down the supply of complete "clunker" grade handguns being shipped by private parties and this leads to a reduced number of parts being made available. I have found that attaching a little note saying something like "Please do not substitute parts" reduces the chances of getting parts that won't fit...But it also reduces the chances of getting any parts period.

    I think that when they started selling their parts on the auction side, their business as we knew it changed. Just my observation. God I hate some changes.[:(]

    I quit doing business with them several years ago. They would never get the parts right and I got sick of paying $9 shipping for a spring taped to a piece of paper and put in an envelope with a .42 cent stamp on it. It's especially aggravating when the spring they send you is broken or in worse shape than the one you are replacing.[:(!]

    Just bought a set of sling swivals for a Stevens 418 that I just bought. Called to confirm that they were originals. When they came they were the correc part. No problems. Had to do some minor fitting on a firing pin a while back, but this is not unusual. So far, so good.

    I've had a few problems with them, but 2 weeks ago I called about a couple double firing pins for the early Savage .22's before the Sporters and 19 NRA Match were marked as such. I have never seen them listed anywhere for years. She said they don't have them according to the records, but she would have a guy search the old parts bins that they never list.
    Got them in the mail 3 days later - new, never used!
    Made me and the guy that wanted one of them break into smiles!

    Its been a couple years ago, I ordered a hammer-spring and buttplate for a 1893 Marlin, got a very poor replica buttplate; last year I ordered a forarm for a Marlin 39 Century ... got a unfinished repro of a 39 forarm, which is about 1" too short.

    Order with caution.
