Need help with a Stevens 620A
Anyone know how to separate the medal slide tube from the wooden forearm? I want to reblue the medal parts but I can get the dang thing apart.

The front 'ring' unthreads and the tube slides off the front... I know sometimes they've been varnished and are 'stuck' or the wood has adhered to the metal tube from moisture / rust, but that is how they are SUPPOSED to come apart! Good luck 0 -
I had one that was stuck like no tomorrow. Luckily the wood was being replaced as it was busted, so I just broke the wood to get it off, and soaked the damned thing in penetrating oil for a few ways. That did the trick. 0 -
Thanks, Wehrmacht and rmill. I thought that was how it was supposed to work but it is really stuck. Even my strap wrench wouldn't budget it. I need a stock for it anyway so I might just crack it off and soak it as Wehrmacht suggests and replace all of the wood. Know where I might acquire a good used stock and forearm? Thanks again. 0 -
Numrich usually has some. Also keep an eye out at the auction side, or post a want add. Usually these will be take offs from the Montgomery Wards stamped guns. The fore end off a 520 should also fit I am told. 0
