Ruger Model 77 Worth

I have the opportunity to purchase a Ruger Model 77 Mark II All-Weather Stainless in a .243 cal. The condition of the gun is good with the exception of the barrel outside finish being scrubbed with a scotch brite pad to give it a dull appearance. The gun was purchased new in 2005 and does not have the original box. I'm wondering what it is worth?

  are you sure it is not just Ruger's target grey finish

  $450-$500 would be what I would pay since it has been scrubbed.

  Believe it or not but people actually use some of those pads in the finer grades to polish their stainless guns until they look like nickel plated ones. I've seen some S&W stainless guns that were polished so bright that I honestly thought they were plated.

  It's definitely a stainless steel firearm and it has the integral scope mount with rings. The guy selling it contracts out population control in urban areas (Deer) so I know why the barrel was scrubbed. Thanks for confirming my thought on the value of this firearm.

  I paid $399 for this Ruger M77 MKII SS in .338WM and came with rings and custom muzzle brake.
