50th Anniversary 357 blackhawk

Gents:

Can you tell me if the new 50th Anniversary 357 blackhawk has the aluminum frame and ejector housing, or is it steel? Looking to do a caliber conversion and want to retain the lightweight characteristics of the aluminum parts. I'm told that these new frames have the transfer bar safety in the grip frame themselves, so you can't swap out the stock frame (if steel) with an aluminum one for that reason.

  just checked mine , a magnets sticks to both the grip frame and the ERH so i would say they are steel

  transfer bar is the same as all new models
  
  
  so you can't swap out the stock frame (if steel) with an aluminum one for that reason.
  
  you should be able to swap the grip frame and ERH with an aluminum one off of the New Model Vaquero's

  As above, yes, on the steel grip frame of the Anniversary .357. Aluminum frame from either the older Vacquero OR the "new" new model Vacquero should work. Confusion on the transfer bar system (they are the same) may stem from the fact that the "new new" blackhawks have a safety lock which nestles in the middle of the grip frame. Ruger thoughtfully left it hidden. The grip panels are marked on the inside if for some reason you wanted to accurately drill a small hole that would allow locking the mechanism without removing the grips.
