I.J. Mdl. X - ? FOR BILL GOFORTH

I'm fascinated by the action on the little Iver Johnson ss .22rf rifles designated Model X. But I've learned very little about it from the usual sources. I think it would make an interesting addition to my collection of .22rf single-shots. Does anyone have any information on this unusual bolt action?

    about the only other imformation i have would be is this action was patented in both the u.s. and canada. the u.s. patent is number 1673666. not sure what the cadanian patent number is. you could have a complete collection with only 4 rifles as so far no variations have been found in the 2X versions. the ones made before the WWII appear exactly like the ones made after WWII. ranked in order of the easiest models to find would be.
    Model 2X
    early Model X
    late Model X
    Model 2XA

    all of the model X series are serial numbered it is just hard to find being located on the bottom of the barrel hidden under the stock. they a fine little rifles and should be in any collection of single shot 22 rifles. most are still fine shooter. i used my model 2X two years ago to introduced my grandson to the fun of shooting

    EXCELLENT! Many thanks, Bill. Do you happen to have any estimates on the number of each variation made? I actually only wanted ONE as a representative piece in my collection of single-shots. I assume the four you mentioned have that strange "bent bolt" appearance? I've never seen one so have no idea.

    i have no idea of the number of these rifle manufactured. to my knowledge there are no factory records on iver johnson rifles or shotguns.

    all the Model X series use the same single shot action the difference is in stocks, and sights.
