Ruger Single Six .22LR or mag or convertible

I'm trying to figure out if there are actual differences in the various models, & how to identify them.

I see convertibles with ".22 cal" on the frame.

I see .22 S, L, & LR's with ".22 cal" on the frame.

I see .22 mag's with ".22 MAG" on the frame.

Yes, I know about S&W's. But, is the barrel & frame the same for the Ruger SS? Are there any other markings?

    In the OLD days, 22 RF meant short or long. Now "22 cal" in a convertible revolver seems to mean 22 Short, long, long rifle, OR 22 Mag with a cylinder change. The ones for 22 LR have a barrel with the 22 LR bore, 22 CONVERTIBLE uses the 22 Mag bore (and accuracy with LRs sux)

    I have two convertibles; one made in 1970 and one made in 2007. Both of them are marked ".22 cal" although they both also have the original 22 WMR cylinder.

    I don't think the Single Six was ever meant to be a target grade revolver. And I've never had any complaints about the plinking/hunting accuracy w/.22R on any my convertibles.

    Obvious from responses that, yes, frame is identical. +1 Fatstrat comments on accuracy. I owned half a dozen or so single six's over the years and enjoyed fine accuracy from all. The most recent was a Bisley model sold as .22 L.R. only. I picked up a mag cylinder and it worked fine; good accuracy and no pressure problems.

    All Ruger Single-Six models after serial number 150,000 have the same barrel & frame dimensionally. Before SN 150,000 the barrel was for long rifle only. After SN 150,000 the barrels were made to 22mag specs. All Ruger Single-Six guns after that SN are safe with 22mag ammo/cylinders no matter how the frame is roll marked.

    There are differences in the grip frames, ejector rods, ejector rod buttons, cylinder pin, cylinder pin cap locks, triggers, fixed sights, adjustable sights, Vaquero style sights, grips, grip medallions, grip screw, escutcheons, barrel address roll mark, small serial numbers, large serial numbers, and different barrel length.

    Not to be A wise a--, but with all collector variations, you need the books.
