Fabrica de Armas LaCoruna 1951 Mauser
Picked one up at a gunshow today and have a new collector type question(s).
All S/N match. Bluing is fair and mostly intact, rifling is fair, stock is also intact and in decent shape for a 58 year old milsurp, action is a little sticky, but works. There is some very minor and small surface rust visible on exposed parts, have not looked under the woodline yet and stampings are all legible.
Two questions.
1. I feel like it was a reasonable deal. What is something like this really worth? I am planning on breaking the rifle down and cleaning it up, and possibly converting to a custom.
2. Granting this is rifle is not far more valuable left as is will this "fit" in a German K98 stock that has been sporterized. The dealer didn't know, but I have seen where this mauser (Spanish M43) "class" is supposed to be a LR Std action and should "fit" the stock...

Sorry, but that is not up to the standard of the 98, it is a weak action rifle. They are not a very collectable item, and it won't bring much if dressed better. 0 -
Keep it in its milsurp configuration. LaCoruna's were never high-dollar Mausers. They were sold as surplus back in the 50's/60's time frame, mostly as $20.00 bargain barrel specials. Be sure to check headspace and testfire it with the butt stuck in a tire. Before touching it off, with your face next to the receiver. 0
