Hi to all!!
I have a Mannlicher Schonauer MCA rifle with double set triggers in KAL 358. Where can I find out when it was built and how many of the were produced in 358.

The older Stoeger Company was the U.S. importer/distributor for many years. The Shooters Bible catalog that they published yearly had a section on MS's. You might check out the older Shooters Bible's dating to the 1950's for information on your rifle. As the 358 dates to approximately 1954, it would be after that date.

On the left side of the barrel, just behind the rear sight are a couple of proof marks and a 2-didget number. That number is the year of manufacture. That sequence is repeated about 3" further back on the receiver and also on the top of the root of the bolt handle. I don't know how many .358's were made but there couldn't have been very many since it was/is a great cartridge but not very popular. (The MCA's started in 1961). 0 -
Dittos to Ambrose on the markings for the date of manufacture. An MCA in .358 Winchester is scarce as hen's teeth, and is a fine caliber in a superb rifle. I am jealous! By 1972 the Mannlicher-Schoenauer MCA rifle was gone from the production line at Steyr, the machining and manufacture costs had become prohibitively high, and the rifle was replaced by a cheaper-to-manufacture model. So, 1961 thru 1972 is the range, and I would like to hear the results of your year-of-manufacture search. 0
