Considering an AR7-Henry Survival rifle...

but would like more capacity than just an 8rd mag. Does anyone, (Mag-pull, etc..) make an after market that is larger capacity, and that is worth buying?

    Their quality has improved a lot, since they quit making their magazines in Mexico.

    The AR-7's dont have a great performance track. You might want to do some serious checking prior to buying one. I know there are some people out there that have great ones and love them but there are also a lot of really bad one.

    Marlin makes the Papoose still, and there are many used ones out there. There is also the Springfield M6 Scout (not semi auto though) but have climbed way up in price over the last couple years.

    I had a rifle version & a pistol version. Both had poor accuracy &
    were jam-o-matics. (The pistol didn't actually jam it just never extracted a fired case.) The trigger is probably the worst I have ever encountered.
    I am far happier with my take down Rossi .22 pump.

    +1 on the papoose, I have used "one" and it was accurate enough for headshots on squirrels out to about 30 yards.

    I have never owned or used a henry survival rifle, But most people That have posted about them say they are very unaccurate. That said I think henry is the only company that makes the stow-in-the-stock model, so if you can justify compactness for some accuracy then the Henry would be it.

    Unless you decide to go with a hunter's style rimfire pistol like the ruger mark II or III.

    I have always like the original look, with the simple wire folding stock and pistol grip.

    Does anyone make a Folder/pistol grip kit for the papoose?

    Armalite made 'em first, then Charter Arms, now Henry. The design has stayed the same throughout all the different mfrs, only the calibers have changed; no longer in .22Hornet.
    They are way simple to work on, very accurate if you screw in the barrel the way it should go, and extraction is with a simple bit of metal and a spring-if it doesn't extract; you're missing one or the other.
    Check the straightness of the barrels on the Henrys; some are slightly tweaked, and some have thin liners

    i would sure hope so.., when i lived in San Diego about 35 years ago those KKK mags were the worst excuse of a mag. ever to be sold, i think they were made from Corona cans when they were still in steel cans.

    I have an Armalite and a Charter. Both shoot well (they are not a high grade target gun by any means). I did find that you need to use a high vel. round like CCI to have flawless function.

    There are high capacity mags made (have several). Sorry I can't give you the names because they were from many years ago and they are packed away with the guns a special area not easy to get to. They were a Yellow plastic.

    These guns serve the purpose they were designed for, nothing more. I have had one float down the river, picked it out, and everything was dry inside, so it works for me.

    I have used and owned briefly an AR-7. They are junk...and a gimmic, because they can be stored in the stock, and it floats.

    If you want a real takedown pack gun, the Marlin Papoose is a good semi-automatic, and the Taurus 62 Carbine is a good pump action. I have a Taurus in Stainless, and it is the only Taurus that I have tried and liked.
