Whats the current asking price for this ammo. Theres not much to compare to on the auction side. Thanks guys

    The way things have been shaking out the last 6 months, don't worry about the price. If you need it, get it.

    Common stuff that was readily available 6 months ago, at reasonable prices isn't to be had.

    38 S & W ammo has never had a big following, once it dries up not likely the ammo factories are going to be in any hurry to make another run. As they can sell all the common stuff they can crank out, as quick as it hits the shelves.

    Consider reloading, It's easy to make 38 S & W ammo, from cut down .38 Special brass.

    Not worried about buying it. Im selling it. Have 7 full boxes of 50 rounds. Made by western. Late 60's early 70's production i beleive.

    I was thinking 38SW was a little bit bigger in diameter than 38 Sp. I'll have to take a look at my books.

    One thing I have found so far: The .38 S&W (also .38 British or .38/200) is shorter than the .38 Special but uses a slight larger bullet. The bore on the Special is .357 while on the .38 S&W it runs around .360. Many British military .38s were imported into the US after WW II and converted to .38 Special by reaming the chambers. Cases will usually split on these when fired in the oversized chambers and accuracy is nil.

    Thanks boomer. Is the older stuff worth that much or should i sell it a little cheaper2 I got a freind of the family who said he would buy it. Just want to get an idea of the base price so i know how much to knock off and sell to him.

    Not sure how to answer that. It is always possible that cartridge collectors may pay more, I am not a collector so I would not know this. If you just want the money, then maybe $140 for all seven boxes. Seven new boxes would cost $185 shipped.

    I was thinking that myslef boomer. 15-20 bucks a box. I have asked before and the ammo is not a collector item. So there is no collectable value. Thanks agian boomer

    38 special brass will not make acceptable shells for 38 S&W. Check the specs in the loading manuals. Every case will split upon firing with factory spec loads.
