Remington 600 question

Which Remington model had the ventilated rib? Also did they make it in 223? Thanks

As has already been answered, it was the model 600. Only a few were made in caliber .223 and they are very collectible and valuable.

They did make the Remington 600 in 223-there is one on the auction
side at $6,500.00 they are very rare in that caliber. I collect these
little carbines and have all the calibers. The guns were a little
ahead of the times and not very popular when they came out.

The Model 600 was produced from 1963 and started at SN 1,000. Production stopped in 1968 when the model 660 took over and continued until SN 131,552 when in 11/68 the numbering system changed and started at 6,200,000. This numbering sequence was continued when the Model 660 was replaced by the Mohawk 600 in 1971. The Blue book says that 94,086 model 600s (not mohawk 600, not the 660s) were manufactured 1963 to 1968. The .223 Rem was the rarest (315 made) followed by the .35 Rem and .222 Rem. Other cartridges produced were 6 mm, .243 Win, and .308 Win.
The Model 600 is often confused with the model 600 magnum, the 600 Mohawk, and the 660 and 660 Magnum. The model 600 was not made in a laminated stock. However the Model 600 magnum was.
