? Remmington 600 /660

I have a Remington 660 that to release the bolt I have to stick a small screw driver in next to the bolt (on the left) to get the bolt to release from the action. What is maybe missing ? broke ? I have to travel 226 miles to a Remington repair station...Pat

    Been a long time since I handled a 660/600, but if memory serves me, nothing is missing. That was proper method to remove bolt from these guns.

    'carbine 100' is correct, so are you. A small screwdriver works great but a field expedient source is a car key or I've even used a part of a Popsicle stick. The M700 design uses another lever with a tab on the end of it which fits onto the trigger body and is pushed up in order to lower the bolt stop.

    As already stated there is nothing wrong or missing on your gun, that is the design.
    I am a collector of Rem Mod 600 and have around 17 of them in all the calibers so I know my way around them.

    If memory serves, the early model sevens had the same, somewhat awkward, bolt release.
