smith&wesson model 29-3

Came accross a S&W model 29 3, with a 8 3/8ths inch blued barrel with scope mount machined slots on top of barrel from factory with rings in the box. This pistol is NIB, the warranty papers were in the box also and had the date of may 1988 stamped on them. I have two questions to ask, What is the gun worth? and what type of scope would you put on it?

  The closest thing I can find to your gun is a 29-4 made in 1989, product code 101233.
  
  It is an 8 3/8" barrel gun with factory broaching to accomodate S&W scope mounting system. Rings and bases were included with this gun.
  
  The S&W book lists the value at about $750. Any "handgun" scope with long eye relief should work.

  Welcome to the forums here on Gunbroker.
  
  That 29-3 should be worth around $600.00 NIB. It was a very nice revolver back then, but I would not over pay for it. Check and see what new ones are going for on the auction side. Check the auctions that have ended, and more specifically the ones that have ended, and SOLD.
  
  For a scope I would put a Burris on it...Either a 1-4x, 2-7x, or 3-9x. Happy shooting.
