Accurate .22 bolt-action

What do you feel is the most accurate .22 LR bolt-action rifle under $1000 (amd under $2000)? Thanks.

    How about for under $200 ? The CMP folks still have Mossberg 44US target rifles available for $175, plus shipping. Yes, there are some fairly exotic rifles that will outshoot them- but shooters that shoot that well are rare. With good match ammo, these are capable of 5 rd one ragged hole groups at 50 meters.

    Anschutz are usually considered among the best of the match-type .22 rifles, though most of them will exceed your budget of $1000.

    My 9 yr old grand-daughter was hitting a nickel at 50 yards with my Remington 541 T [:)]

    I have a Remington Model 514 Single shot that I bought new in the late 60's for $35 dollars. It has a 24" barrel...and it will shot the eyes out of anything with it's open sights! I am now teaching my grandson's how to shoot using this rifle...THANKS!!!

    look for a good used 52 winchester in the C,D, or E versions. Or a Remington 40x. they have accounted for more trophys than any other factory rimfire out there. Why? because the actions are ridgid, the barrels are great, and the triggers are superb and easy to replace or modify with after-market versions.

    Not as fancy or as expensive but the Marlin bolt actions with the micro groove barrel shoot pretty damn good.

    it all depends on what you want it for. CZ makes the best 'hunting' rifle for the money. Anschutz rules the target world.

    I am thinking MIKE WISKEY stole my thunder on the CZ. I have two of them. I have a standard 452 in 22LR, and a 453 in 17HMR. Our local gunclub has some informal for fun shoots in both centerfire and rimfire to benifit the range and kitchen funds. In the rimfire shoots, they hate to see the 452 comming. It will let you draw a smiley face on a 1 inch orange sticker at 50 yards. The 453 is the Varmint model with a set trigger, and will easily do the same.

    These rifles are both under $500.00. If you want to go over $1K, then there is the Cooper, Kimber, and Anshutz. They will not shoot any better off a bench than the CZ's IMHO.

    As far as modern, moderately priced tack drivers? The Savage thumbhole gun in either 22lr or 17 hmr is a surprising performer for under $400 as a package gun from several big box stores. Love my little 22 and it recently produced a 25 cal, 5 dhot group at 75 feet.

    I can dimes at 50 yards with the 541T. How can you do any better than that ?

    And tsr1965 stole my thunder in turn, I have two CZ 452's, one a 25" Lux and the other a 29" 'Exclusive'. The Lux won a 100-yard golf ball shoot against heavy barreled 10/22's. Not that any kind of 10/22 is a bad gun, but the accuracy from CZ's with a sporter-weight barrel is certainly impressive.

    Mossberg 44 us or 146 will be just what you need. [;)]

    Depends on what you specifically wish to use it for.

    Small game hunting, ie: rabbits and squirrels, is a natural application for a good old Marlin. Consider a Marlin in 22 magnum if you hunt coyotes. If so, the hornady varmint tip is deadly on those old dogs.
