Whats a decent price for a concealed carry class? I want to give the class to someone as a present but don't want to get ripped off. 0 -

Lots of choices out there. As Iawanna stated, it is hard to bet a J frame revolver with a 2" barrel. My choice is a plain old model 36 or 37 in a Fobus holster that slips over the waist ban.
A model 36 in "carry condition" probably runs closer to $350-$375 in my neck of the woods. A good holster is imperative and will run around $25-$300 -
I agree with the previous posts. I too have used a five shot revolver for carry purposes. A .38 is about as easy a caliber as can be found, and you can probably find a decent used revolver for well under $300.00. 0 -
I will add to the J-frame 38, and say a J or K framed 2 1/2" 357. It can shoot 38's as well, but has the hotter option.

86FLST...I will also jump on the .38 Special parade. During the day I carry a Taurus Titanium with +p's. Accurate, light and easy to carry. Also fun to shoot at the range. I like it better than the little LCP's and such as it doesn't jump all over my hand when shot. And the +p's pack a heck of a punch compared to the .32's and .380's. And .38 ammo is still rather reasonable and available. For semiauto I like my Glock 36. Can't beat the good old .45! With nightsights for evening carry it does the trick. And, again, .45 ammo will always be around! Both take some work to tame at the range, but once under control they will never fail. While money is always an issue, the one time you need CC you don't want to be using the low bidder. Good shooting! 0 -

I carry a 5 shot 38 air weight because I pocket carry most of the time, as you listed dependable it is what I recommend. I can carry it in a pocket with or without a pocket holster, or in my waistline with an inside the belt holster. Less effort than a semi-automatic to maintain. I think a revolver is safer also, as there are less functions. I have carried semi-automatics (always a double action one) and may again, but for daily carry while wearing even summer clothes I like the 38 revolver. The new line of semi-autos with out external safeties are popular and I see why, however they take a lot more training to be safe with, if you wish to do that then enjoy. I like the new Springfield line of 45's and if I get time to properly train with one I may carry one when I have on enough clothes to conceal it. I can conceal the 38 with about anything on.

The small .38's are good, but are bulky, especially if you live in a state such as Florida, where heavy clothing isn't worn. My wife carries a light weight .38 in her purse, but I've found the Kel-Tec PA-3T much easier to conceal, and even the lightest .38 weighs more than twice the weight of the Kel-Tec. 0
