NYC gun laws
Does anyone here understand NYC gun laws? I am a resident of NYC and have 2 licenses: restricted handgun and rifle. Each license is being administered by a separate division of NYPD. Each license came with a paperwork stating that a license holder can poses no more that one GUN every 90 days. Is it one gun of any kind every 90 days or one handgun every 90 days and one rifle every 90 days? When I called the rifle division, they told me they know noting about handguns, handgun division knows nothing about rifle registration. One dealer insists that it means one gun of any kind every 90 days, the other assured me that I can get one handgun and one rifle every 90 days. Is there any way out of this insanity? [:(]

WELCOME TO NORTH DAKOTA, you can hunt and transport uncased firearms, ammo in the magazine as long as not in chamber. Handguns have to be visible if you are pulled over. Rifles can still be placed into gun rack in back window.0 -
Get a [rifle] purchase authorization. It will then lock you out for ninety days. The same day get a pistol purchase authorization. It will then lock you out for ninety days. Both at the same time.
You can't get the purchase authorization without clearance from them. Up to them to refuse. If you do get it, they are sanctioning the transaction. No law broken with <90 days interval between purchases. Departmental regulations only.
I don't believe the 90day restriction is part of the penal code, and therefore is not binding to the public.
As long as you have the P/O in your hands, get the firearm. Best, Joe0 -
Questions about the North Dakota gun laws,especially while in a vehicle.
Rifle: In the magazine but not in the chamber? Does this mean all you have to do is jack the bolt and you are ready to go? A BIG no no in Washington state. You may have a loaded clip in glove box,on or under the seat etc. A fixed magazine rifle must be EMPTY. Same for an automatic handgun. NO loaded clip IN weapon. Revolver: totally empty period. If you are hunting or just riding around with loaded weapons in the car it's a BIG fine. Loss of hunting rights for several years. Possibly lose your weapon and your car. We really look down on road hunters and those banging away at traffic signs here. They give all hunters and shooters a bad name,rightfully so.

Two problems: 1) rifles do not require purchase authorizations. can just buy them as you will. 2) handgun authorizations requests take 2-3 month for NYPD to process.0 -

In civilized states it is recognized that an automobile is an extention of your domocile. In New Mexico, I can legally carry a loaded handgun in my glove box, under my seat or on my hip while in my truck. Same with a loaded rifle, not that that seems a good idea.0 -

The Pistol Licencing Bureau (NYPD division) restricts pistol purchases due to the time-lag you mentioned. As long as you have an authorization from the NYPD Pistol Licencing Bureau, you're good to go. It's self-limiting, and you won't be called into question, as the NYPD is sanctioning the purchase by authorizing the sale.
I had a NYC pistol permit. The long-gun registration was just coming into practice when I left.
If ever called to question on your long gun purchases by the Firearms Control Board, you don't have to mention that you have a pistol permit, or own pistols, or when you purchased them. Just adhere to the ninety-day restriction on long-gun purchases (keep your receipts), and you'll be good to go. Best, Joe0 -

Good advice makes sense. i do not think rifle division knows what handgun people are doing and vice-versa. Thank you.0
