Colt 1903 .32 Auto Made in 1928

I have a Colt 1903 pocket hammerless pistol. .32 caliber, that my old boss gave me a while back. I just sort of found it in the back of the gun safe. I am thinking I want to part with it, but I am curious what it is worth. It is in great shape with only some slight holster wear at the front of the gun. The rest looks better that most of my newer guns. The serial starts with 472XXX, if I remember correctly. Anyone have any ideas?

    They were made in quantity over a 50 year period. Chances are you will be able to find some, on the big on-line auctions. Check out what the actual selling price are, to get a handle on yours.

    If you don't need the money, best to wait. With the state of the current economy and the administration we have in power, very likely the prices of unpapered handguns will go up substantially in the future.

    That is a really beautiful '03 Colt commercial. I would NOT part with it personally. I am not even that into them myself but that mirror polish and the fire blue being still evident and the near perfect grips...all spell keeper to me!

    I agree with Rufe & 1KYDSTR. I have had several 1903's and they are great shooting pistols. None have been as fine a quality as the one you have. I suggest keeping it (unless you need the money). Not only will it go up in value in the future, but if by necessity, if it had to be used as a shooter, it would prove very reliable.

    Thanks for the info. I haven't shot this one yet. I have shot two differnt ones, and they were not in the good shape this one is in. To tell you the truth, I was thinking about getting a pinball machine since I sort of forgot I had this. It had been over 8 years since I saw it. Hmmm....pinball machine or hang on to this gem? Tough question. Any clue on the value of one in this condition? Most of the ones I have seen are far from this condition.

    My guess would probably be in the neighborhood of $800.00 or greater depending on the buyers that day. Below is a 1903 in similar condition as yours.

    WAG, unless the pictures are hiding some wear I can't see, would be in the $600 range. If it were earlier, engraved or nickle, that price would escalate in a hurry. I would hope you are REALLY into pinball machines to part with that little gem. Sure wish I had one to trade you as I would do it in a second. Also, I would want that pinball machine to be something collectable over time, otherwise your investment goes the other direction...sorta like depreciation of driving a new, cool car off the lot!

    the market is crazy right now with prices all over the board.
    $800 would be about right, but it could be plus or minus $200 depending on how many want it.
