I was looking for some spare extractors and springs, I found them but they're awfully rare. do they never break or what's the deal?
and what's up with charging 70-90 bucks for a bolt head? you know it barely cost someone 3.00 to make it, it's such a simple part.

Put 10s of thousands of rounds thru a lot of AKs, and never had any part break. 0 -
Brownells had sold my friend AK extractor springs 430-000-383. Not as rare as you might think. Some Romanian firing pin retainer pins that come out before the extractor claw pin are splined by the head of the pin and will brake some if not most of your pin punches to drive out. If it's not broke don't fix it. Careful with bolt swaps check head space. If you can get extra firing pins not so much the 7.62 or 5.56 but the other (AKM) 5.some smaller# because they've been known to brake. You may also get hammer & other AK springs from Brownells hope this helps. 0 -
The bolt is one of the few fully machined precision parts on the AK.

There are a lot of places to get them, but only K-VAR currently has any in stock. They have East German made replacement parts for both the 7.62 and 5.45 AK's. Check under the 'Bolt Head" section. They have always been good to deal with in my experience.

Used to be you could buy a comple AK parts kits for $75 and I would recommend that for back up parts. Now days kits are going for $300 or more.

I highly recommend them as I have bought 3 AK kits from them in the past and a bunch of US parts. Good small company to do business with.0
