Mod 1911 Colt
My daughter has recently acquired a Mod 1911 Colt with the following markings: (on the shooter's right side)

The marking on the shooter's left side seem to be standard for a Colt manufactured Mod. 1911.
This pistol has a blued finish (worn) and checkered walnut slab grips. It carried a blued magazine with a lanyard ring.
What has she got here?

All that we can tell you without quality photos, is that it was made in 1919. 0 -
+1 on rufe - snow We need pictures. DO NOT attempt to clean with anything but some oil no steel wool etc. We will be glad to help once we have pictures.
EDIT thanks for the pictures you have mastered the hard part of getting pictures to post on this site. They have answered some Questions but as with many things have opened up many new ones. In my opinion the sum of its parts may be of more value then the pistol as it stands. The reason I say this is it MAY have many original parts that may or may not have been refinished . If you know how to take the slide and barrel off we need detail close up pictures of all markings on the barrel and condition of the bore also any marks on the top of the frame that can't be seen with the pistol put together. Now for pictures we need MACRO/Close-ups of all markings there should be an inspectors mark of 3 letters in a circle on the frame just on top of the magazine release button . The grips are so worn that I suspect the pistol has been refinished however . If it is refinished it was not heavily BUFFED[^] and the type of finish is not a high polish but more in keeping with the type of finish that it came with[:)]. On the new pictures you are about to take to show us don't try to get the whole pistol in the picture and try to take in natural light nor flash . think of the pictures as you holding the pistol about 6 inches from your eyes we need to see the most minute detail. maybe a 3 inch section of the pistol at a time. When you stamp numbers and letters in steel it is almost like like a drop of water hitting the surface of a pond you will get a indent from the punch but the rim of the indent will in fact be slightly raised some marks were done before finish is applied and some after.the after ones should have this rim and you can't refinish without removing this rim We need to see these marks. Value could change as much as 300% between refinished and original . I dont want to get your hopes up because the condition of the grips if they are original to the pistol show so much abuse and wear that I would have expected the pistol to be a wreak but over all the pistol from the long distance pictures does not match the grips.0 -
I've enclosed four views of the piece. The stamping is not heavy and is difficult to photograph. The blueing is black and shows holster wear, etc.

I can see enough to tell that it has been refinished. Note the sharp corner on the right side of the frame where the rounded top meets the flat side behind the ejection port; it becomes rounded in front of the ejection port. It should be sharp all the way forward.
It may have many/all original parts, I just can't see enough. And, I can't tell if the barrel is original or even shootable.
I would say it's worth in the $700-900 range.

I agree. It is a refinished pistol, but better than most. I am always amazed what a non-original Colt military pistol will bring these days. I place the value at shooter value, and someone pays twice what I would pay. 0 -
I would think that if someone went to the trouble of having it refinished they would replace the grips. No?
the grips almost look like theve deteriorated rather than worn.
but I'm far from an expert!
