Bead blasting?

I have a stainless AMT that someone tried to polish the texture out of and it looks like hammered s*#t. What do ya'll think about tearing it down and bead blasting it? I should at least get a uniform somewhat presentable finish. Shouldn't I?

  AMT's were made out of relatively "soft" stainless castings. Although bead blasting will put on a uniform mat finish. It won't completely disguise any sort of gouges, or uneven surfaces left by misguided attempts to polish on a course buffing wheel.

  Funny you should ask this question about an AMT backup. I have one that I purchased several years ago that appeared to have been drug behind a truck. Totally stripped it, used a fine media to blast with, and it turned out very good. No polishing or any other finishing was done. Pictures are of the gun just as it came out of the blasting tank.

  I have recently been trying to clean up some older knives - A Gerber BMF, a WWI USMC Bolo and a WWII USMC Corpsman's Bolo.
  
  I spent a month trying to figger out what to do.
  
  Finally figgered that glass bead blasting was the right approach.
  
  Couldn't find anyone to do it, anywhere nearby.
  
  Was bitching about it in to the machinist in my local NAPA store. He said they do it.
  
  They turned the knives around in <a day. BMF = $7.50, each Bolo = $9.50.
  
  They are BEAUTIFUL !!
