rock river AR ?

I have to admit I know very little about the black rifle. My question is a friend of mine recently bought a rock river AR (I believe it is an A4) at a gun show, and it was new unfired but it didnt come with the box the dealer just threw it in a non original plastic case with a bushmaster clip. It was very crowded and busy so my friend didnt care what it was packed in he just wanted the gun. When we got it home and after cleaning took it to my range. I couldnt believe how nice the trigger was it is a very very crisp and consistent 2 lb. It is as nice as any fine bolt action trigger I have ever felt and I am a trigger snob. I can tell it is a two stage trigger but I dont know what AR's normally come with what i want to know is this normal for a rock river AR to come with such a nice trigger or has this one been altered by the seller. If not I have to change my opinion of some of the black rifles.

    That trigger comes from the factory, A good rockriver will make shooting 1 hole groups at 100y a breeze.

    Alot of people over look the AR as just another plinking gun, but it will shoot with, or better then any other system you can build.

    The AR-15/AR-10 are not the only semis that will give any boltgun a run for its money. A custom M-1A or even a highly tweeked FAL, HKG3, AK or SVD will amaze you with it accuracy.

    I resisted purchasing a "black rifle" for several years. I was old school, and thought the M-14 was the finest rifle the Corps ever issued. My Father,a WWII, Okinawa Marine thought the Garand was the finest rifle the Corps ever issued. I have owned a Colt AR-15 for almost 20 years, and have to admit that it really is a fine shooting weapon, also you get the benefit of no sore shoulder, nor M-1 thumb!

    This one of the reasons why people will wait 8 months for a new RRA factory rifle. I know I am very happy with the RRA products I have.

    Good deal! If it were stock (to mil. specifications) it wouldn't have the two-stage trigger. Open question: do Rock River AR's come with target triggers? Or is the OP lucky to have bought one with a special order option? Thanks, Joe

    I was curious about the rifle because it was obviously new and the dealer stated that it was, but he just grabbed an extra clip and a generic case and sent us on our way. It wasnt my rifle so i didnt ask any questions and my friend didnt either. It had such a nice trigger that it was hard for me to believe that it hadnt been upgraded or tinkered with, cause if it hadnt Rock River is making a benchrest ready AR that my friend only paid $900 for (of course this was a few months before Obama was elected and us gun guys hadnt begun to lose our minds yet)

    A few months ago that was a typical price for RRAs($900)...they are going for about $999 right now depending on what you get..the entry tactical carbine in my area is about $1050

    All their M4-clone 'patrol rifle' carbines I've worked on have a non-standard trigger/disconnector/disconnector spring setup.

    Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't offer two-stage triggers as an option on some models.

    Yes, RR sells some of their AR's with their two stage trigger. You can also buy installed two stage triggers with just the lower.

    I just went through their guns listed on their website, looks like they are putting the two stage trigger in just about every weapon they make now.

    You can always tell if the upper is a Rock River by looking at the barrel. Even though they are Wilson barrels, RR has their own code on them. ### then a letter or a letter before in some cases as the inspector.

    Just sold a NM A4 RRA for $1400. Ordered another for myself. 5-6 months. Well worth the wait.
