Dragunov mount vs Vsper mount

I just bought a russian scope for my Romanian PSL rifle, which uses traditional dragunov mounts. The scope I bought was a POSP 6x24V. I was doing more research on the scope before it arrives, (It is actually being shipped from the Russian Federation so I have some time before it arrives). Upon looking further into it, it says that the "V" in the name means it is for a Vsper or Saiga mount. What is the differance between those and standard Dragunov mounts? If I need to, is there a way to alter the scope to fit on a Dragunov mount? I wont alter the rail itself to keep my rifle original, but I am willing to alter the mount built onto the scope.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    there are probably minor improvements of an older design, the russins constantly improve there products. Here is a good source that may have more information for you.

    thanks for the info. Let me be more spicific. Will this scope fit on my PSL?

    Im looking on the site that was referanced and it does have a lot of good information, but it seems that it says that the answer is "no". If i am reading it right then i got the wrong one, one that fits on AK style mounts.

    Yes, it will fit your PSL. usually there a BDC specific models.

    but all warsaw pack side mounts That I have seen or used or read about will fit any warsaw base.

    that's what I would think too, but I have a WASR 10/63 that uses a different mounting plate.

    I guess the only way to make sure is to wait until it arrives.

    If the scopes BDC is for the wrong cal. you "may" have some problems though.

    The best set up i have ever seen on a psl was a low profile Ior mount and IOR 6X40mm scope that was calibrated for the 7.62x54. The owner had had quite a bit work done on the rifle. With handloads and check rest it was a very accurate.

    I'll let ya know when it comes in. I think it will fit, since the mount looks too slim to be for an AK in the pictures.
