My stevens 887 semi-auto 22 is jammed ---
This rifle looks pretty new in condition but when I bought it years ago it was jammed shut. I would really like to get it opened but don't want to do something foolish and ruin something. Any one know some special tricks to get it open?[:)] Tube fed auto if that helps. Have took tube out and took stock off but just don't know where to mess with it without breaking something.[:(]

have you tried pulling 'out' on the bolt handle? some of the savage/stevens .22 auto could be changed into a locked breech rifle by pushing the bolt 'in'. 0 -
Thanks for the tip though but that didn't seem to do any thing. With the barrel off the stock is there any part there I could tweak to possibly help? 0 -
Most all 22 Rimfire autos I have ever seen were straight BLOW BACK IE the bolt was not locked/latched shut .Caution this rifle may be LOADED if I were you I would get some KROIL this is a oil . I would drizzle some down the bore and in every port. hole pin handle trigger or other part I could reach I would store muzzle up for 48 or more hours then If you can prove it is not currently loaded by measuring a brass cleaning rod and slid down the barrel. Then rap the end to try to open bolt ,I suspect the gun was used with shorts and built up crud and then jammed when it closed on a long rifle cartridge. "BE CAREFUL" 0 -
