What kind of grips?
Wood can be done easily on ones own with some stripper and some tung oil.0 -
I have a pair of Colt Diamondback and Python grips. 0 -
"Refinish" means different things to different people. I improve tired looking grips by a brush and acetone. That can clean them and remove oil from the surface. Color can be restored by leather dye (not shoe polish) available in various colors. Mix to get what you want. Alcohol on a brush or rag can rub it out to lighter if too dark. I rub in paste floor wax as a finish. Tung oil would give a more permanent finish.
Experiment on scrap to get a leg up on it before you attack your serious job.
More complete refinishing such as repairing or sharpening worn checkering is a whole 'nother thing -- for another time.0 -

A true artist in grip restoration! He has done 3 sets for me; two wood S&W hand ejector grips, and one S&W Gutta Percha grip repair (no small feat indeed!). Very humble Gent; he will give you all kinds of "disclaimers" on the gutta percha repairs, but they truly are the next best thing to invisible repair! On wood, a true master.
