was wondering if someone could tell me the difference between the sig 9mm p228 and the p229

  There are a few differences, but one that's significant.
  
  The 228 has a two piece, folded carbon steel slide with a seperate breech block pinned in place.
  
  The 229 - built from the ground up for the .40 S&W round - has a heavier one piece slide machined from stainless steel and a beefed up frame.
